What is REACH？
The EU REACH Regulation (EC No.1907/2006) on the registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals entered into force on 1 June 2007. The EU REACH regulation classifies products into three categories: “substances”, “mixtures” and “articles”, affecting almost all products placed on the EU market.
Article 67 (1) of the EU REACH Regulation states: “A substance, mixture or article containing a restricted substance in Appendix XVII shall not be placed on the market if it does not comply with its restriction requirements.” The Regulation states that products placed on the EU market by manufacturers or importers must not contain the restricted substances in Appendix XVII of the REACH Regulation, which is a safety net established by the EU to protect the environment and the health of EU citizens. Companies must ensure that products sold in the EU do not contain the relevant restricted substances, so companies should not only pay attention to SVHC, but also to the presence of the restricted substances listed in Appendix XVII of the regulation in the corresponding products.
